1. What is a drainage system?
Water supply and drainage system plays an important role in each project, with the task of collecting, managing and treating water in a certain area with main components such as: water source, tank, pipeline, filter tank, pump, pumping station…
Simply put, a water supply and drainage system is a system that distributes clean water from natural water sources or tanks to buildings, regulates water sources (ensuring enough water for daily life and production), and collects and transfers wastewater to wastewater treatment plants.
The water supply system in the house usually includes 3 types:
- Water supply system for daily life
- Water supply system for production
- Water supply system for fire prevention and fighting activities (fire protection water supply)
To save costs, many units use all three systems together, but they need to be designed and tested according to requirements (especially fire protection water supply systems for large projects).
Besides the water supply system, the drainage system in the house is also often divided into 3 types:
- Wastewater drainage system in living areas (can be discharged into drainage pipes according to regulations or reused for watering plants, cleaning, etc.).
- Wastewater drainage system generated during production, industrial wastewater (industrial wastewater needs to be classified according to level and treated at treatment stations or according to professional processes to avoid environmental pollution before being discharged outside).
- Rainwater drainage system (in roof areas, balconies or courtyards…).
2. Overview of water supply and drainage system in the factory
The water supply and drainage system in the factory is divided into two main parts: water supply and drainage. In terms of structure, the water supply system has the following main components:
- Water source: Can be natural water from ponds, wells or clean water…
- Water treatment plant to treat water from the supply source (filter, disinfect…) before putting it into the water supply system
- Piping system to control and regulate water, distribute water to areas
- Tank system for storing and regulating water
- Pumping equipment and support for distributing water to points of use
The drainage system includes the following main components:
- Wastewater collection system
- Wastewater treatment system
- Drainage system to bring water and natural environment after being treated according to standards
- Tank system for storing wastewater awaiting treatment
Designing a water supply and drainage system for a factory is very complicated, depending on the quality of the water source, scale, nature of wastewater, terrain, etc. Basically, this system needs to ensure the following principles:
- Comply with environmental safety regulations on water quality, noise…
- Ensure integration with fire protection system, automatic fire alarm system
- Optimize operating costs
- Ensure flexible scalability according to future usage needs
